LCK was retained in 2016 to serve as project manager for a phased development plan for the campus. The initial assignment included demolition and construction of a new 29,500 square foot science/laboratory building.
LCK’s role as project manager included pre-development planning, procurement oversight, design coordination, construction monitoring and project closeout. LCK also led in FF&E procurements and installation.
The building was completed in April 2018 on schedule and within budget. Additional features were added during the summer of 2018, including a planetarium, saltwater aquarium and greenhouse. All additions were completed for fall semester, August 2018.
LCK has enjoyed a long-term relationship with Hammond School and was first retained in 1999 to serve as its project manager/owner’s representative for the construction of a new running track. The project was completed within the schedule and budget originally developed. That project led to multiple assignments over the years which has included a new football field and stands, a baseball field, a library renovation, construction of a new Kiva, and numerous studies and campus assessments.
The new football field was of particular complexity, given the short time frame to construct it (over the summer) and have grass firmly settled by the first game of the following school season. LCK coordinated special consultants to bring the project to fruition, including sports field and grass experts.
The property assessments we have performed over the years have served as the School’s capital planning tool, with renovation and building replacement plans being projected out 15 to 20 years. The most recent assessment update was completed in 2012.
LCK has brought expertise to the school that was not available on staff, not only from the project management perspective, but also from a facilities and maintenance planning view as well.
