Bed Tower, Helipad and Hospital Renovations

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA

LCK served as project manager/owner’s representative for multiple renovation and new construction projects for Providence Hospitals. The $90 million phased program began with a bed tower renovation at the downtown campus. Phase II encompassed the conversion of a general services hospital to an orthopedic specialty facility. The renovation and expansion touched every area of the hospital—while the hospital continued to operate. Phase III of the program upgraded an interconnected medical office building to create a new ambulatory care center with imaging/diagnostic capabilities to support the orthopedic focus of the newly converted hospital. Phase IV which was designed but not implemented was an addition and renovation of the emergency room and pathology labs at the downtown location.

LCK was responsible for management of the design and construction teams and for coordinating design and construction activities with hospital representatives. LCK managed the project budget and schedule, keeping the respective teams focused on successful completion. LCK served as the liaison with the design and construction teams for selection, procurement and installation of all hospital associated equipment for the projects.
